Hello Todd, we are installing a 36″ sheet steel roof for a client. We will be installing a 1″ poly iso insulation as well. Question is where to install my underlayment? To the deck itself? Thinking about picture framing the roof top with 1×4 and filling the gaps between with the iso. Should I strap on top of that again? Thanks for your time Todd.kindest regards.christopher garrett

Thanks Christopher. There are always many variables as you know. However, assuming this is “normal” construction including a vented attic, you should not need the strapping. I would put the underlayment on top of the iso. I assume you’ll be using a synthetic underlayment of some sort? Good luck. Feel free to contact me anytime.
