Most people buy metal roofs for their longevity. Once a homeowner reaches the point of owning their “forever house” – the last house they will ever buy, and perhaps they even have plans to pass that house on to loved ones – it makes sense to end the crazy cycle of re-roofing every few years. Nationally, asphalt shingles last about 17 years but we’re seeing them replaced in even fewer than 10 years in areas prone to harsh weather. The durability of metal roofs is well known. You can go into virtually any community and find metal roofs that are approaching or even exceeding 100 years old. Additionally, almost all of the big commercial chains with hundreds of facilities use metal roofs in some way. They know the long term value of these products. Let’s face it, most roofing materials are eventual landfill from the moment they are installed. Some day they will have to be removed and disposed of. Metal roofs, though, are usually the last roof on a structure. Today’s paint finishes provide protection and beauty for 40+ years and can be re-painted at the end of their life. There simply isn’t a better way to invest in the longevity of your home’s roofing system than metal. It will permanently end your roof maintenance and replacement costs.
