#36 – Cost Analysis of a Metal Roof

As a building products manufacturer, there are few things that we can do to help you control the cost of living but we can help you control the cost of maintaining your home. Re-roofing a home every 12 – 20 years depending upon your climate does not have to be a way of life. A metal roof can take you out of the re-roofing business once and for all. It is a higher investment but the payback comes when the home goes through one re-roofing cycle and the roof does not have to be replaced. As a result, most metal roof customers are homeowners who consider themselves to be in their “forever home.” And, just like they try to do with other maintenance items around the home, they take steps to no longer have to pay to repair or replace their home’s roof. Many homeowners will look at their cost per year for roofing over time and that helps them to see the long term value of metal. Keep in mind, too, that a metal roof can help save energy costs. Additionally, the way that roofing and labor costs double every 10 – 15 years, the next asphalt shingle roof in 15 or so years will be far more costly than today’s asphalt shingle roof.
