Garage Ventilation

Q: I had my garage roof replaced (attached to the house). They removed my 2 wind turbines and installed 1 ridge roof vent, I have 6 soffit vents on the eaves, But my garage is now extremely hot. They said I no longer needed the turbines with the ridge roof vent. How can I cool the garage back down? We live in Texas. My eave vents are not blocked by debri or any other objects. Thanks for any advise you can offer.
A: First of all, if your new garage roof is darker in color than the old one, that will increase heat gain into the attic.
Proper ventilation requires intake and exhaust vents. In your case, soffit vents are being used for intake and ridge vent for exhaust.
Ideally, you will want to maximize your amount of venting and you will want to have the same or perhaps slightly greater airflow at the ridge as what you have at the soffits (total both sides). That will allow for the convective airflow that you need.
