What To Ask Your Contractor

As you go through the process of selecting a metal roof for your home, you’re going to be spending a lot of time talking to your contractor. What are the types of things you should ask your contractor?
I would make sure first of all, that they have experience with the style of metal roof that you selected for your home. Make sure that their crews have experience installing it, make sure that if possible, perhaps their crews even receive factory training for installing that metal roof. I would also ask them make sure that they understand the general benefits of the metal roof being installed. Make sure that they understand the warranty that the metal roof is going to provide to you. Make sure that you understand that you’re probably going to be getting two warranties… you’re going to be getting a warranty on the metal roof panels themselves, and you’re going to be getting a warranty from your contractor covering their installation workmanship. So talk through those things with your contractor as well. Make sure that your contractor is properly licensed and insured to be doing work in your area.
One of the other things you may want to talk about in regards to a metal roof in particular, is where do they get the product from? Is the product going to have to be to shipped some distance to come to you? Are you going to have to wait? Is it a matter of maybe if they run out is it going to take them awhile to get more parts for your roof? Do the parts have to be custom-made? Not that there is really any right or wrong answer to any of those questions, but they are all questions that could affect the roofing project itself, and they’re things that the more you know going in, the more comfortable you’re going to be throughout the process.
So don’t be afraid to ask your roofing contractor any of these questions, or anything else that comes to mind.
